Summary

Follow Chaol on his sweeping journey to a distant empire in this next instalment of the Throne of Glass series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J。 Maas。 Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard。 But all of that has changed since Aelin shattered the glass castle, since Chaol's men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken。 Now he and Nesryn sail for Antica - the stronghold of the southern continent's mighty empire and of the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme。 It's Chaol's one shot at recovery, and with war looming back home, Dorian and Aelin's survival could depend on Chaol and Nesryn convincing Antica's rulers to ally with them。 But what they discover there will change them both - and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined。 Author BiographySarah J。 Maas is the #1 New York Times and internationally bestselling author of the young adult series Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, as well as the upcoming adult series Crescent City。 Her books are published in over thirty-six languages。 A New York native, Sarah lives near Philadelphia with her husband, son and dog。 sarahjmaas。 com facebook。 - Tower Of Dawn By Sarah J Maas (Paperback)

Chaol must heal to be able to go to war with the rest of his kingdom。 But when the demon inside of him refuses to lose his purchase, only one person can heal him。 Yrene Towers。 But Yrene has doubts of her own。 Why should she help the man that killed her family?

Better than the last one。 That last one really burned me from really appreciating the rest on the series I think。 But since this was about the side characters It was actually a bit more interesting。 Like the previous books, It could have been about half the length but at this point I've learned how to know what's important and what's not。 So with all the skimming, it was actually not so bad。 Better than the last one。 That last one really burned me from really appreciating the rest on the series I think。 But since this was about the side characters It was actually a bit more interesting。 Like the previous books, It could have been about half the length but at this point I've learned how to know what's important and what's not。 So with all the skimming, it was actually not so bad。 。。。more

Ok I really wanted to skip this book because Chaol just。。。 ugh。 Can’t stand the guy。 And I did NOT want to tandem read this with empire of storms but I did for science。 It wasn’t the worst to tandem read and I was pleasantly surprised at Chaol。 I found myself wanting to read this more than EoS until the back half of the books。 I really liked Yrene as well and her story。 I will say I’m impressed when someone can make you hate a character so much you’d rather skip their book and then get you to lo Ok I really wanted to skip this book because Chaol just。。。 ugh。 Can’t stand the guy。 And I did NOT want to tandem read this with empire of storms but I did for science。 It wasn’t the worst to tandem read and I was pleasantly surprised at Chaol。 I found myself wanting to read this more than EoS until the back half of the books。 I really liked Yrene as well and her story。 I will say I’m impressed when someone can make you hate a character so much you’d rather skip their book and then get you to love them。 Chaol officially redeemed。 。。。more

I have heard so many people complain about this book and about Chaol, but。。。 I don't get it? He has always been one of my favourite characters from the start and to see the emotional/mental journey he goes on made my heart happy 🖤 I absolutely adored the setting of this book。 Antica is a rich, interesting place and it was the perfect backdrop for the story。Love, love, loved it and can't wait (but am also scared) to finish the series with Kingdom of Ash! So after Empire of Storms ended, I had zero desire to follow Chaol and Nesryn to the Southern Continent, but by the end, I'm glad we got to follow them。 The book did start a little slow, especially given the turmoil we left in the previous book, but Mass definitely made up for it and got me completely invested as we started to learn why their trip was so important。 I can't wait to see how this ends!!!!

I need to say that the 'I knew I loved you since you first walked into that room/since I first heard your name' trope just isn't for me? It really doesn't do it, sorry。 I find it overdone and cringe。 BUT, nonetheless, the book was amazing。 I could barely put it down。 I still find some bits of SJM's books really hard to go through because they make me cringe so much, but I think I'm getting used to it by now? I feel like we barely knew anything before Tower of Dawn。 It was also about bloody time Chaol got closure, like for heaven's sake this guy's been dwelling over the same trauma for four books now。 Until my man finally said 'new girl new me'。 ABOUT TIME。 Oh and I remember starting the book thinking 'Nesryn deserves better' and oh lord did she get better。 I am so in love with her, it makes me so glad to see her finally happy。 Yeah I think that'll be it for this one。 Definitely recommend but also read at your own risk if you don't particularly appreciate juicy scenes and really cliche love confessions。 。。。more

Eu estava pronta pra dar 3 estrelas durante 65% do livro, achei a história arrastada em certos momentos e alguns personagens chatos, porém a autora não cansa de me surpreender! As revelações bombástica com certeza me prenderam nessa parte final, estou ansiosa pra começar o sétimo e último livro!

4。5This wasn’t my favorite so far, and I’m sure many agree with me。 But I will say this was necessary to read and the character development in this book between Chaol and others is something I believe we needed。 Chaol became a character I absolutely despised in queen of shadows but he has redeemed himself。I’m not ready for this to end

3 stars。 Maybe 2。5 stars? I am not sure what to rate this, as it was just “okay。”To be honest, there were parts of the book I enjoyed and parts that I was just trying to get through。 This book felt really similar to a previous one already written in this series - just with Chaol, Nesyrn, and Yrene。 I think a lot of this book could have been shortened, over 600 pages was a little long in my opinion。 Another thing before I get into any spoilers - this book has mature content in it (as does the oth 3 stars。 Maybe 2。5 stars? Sure, imply that it happens, whatever, but I don’t wanna read the juicy details。 We all know how it works okay? Thanks。 ***SPOILERS***Here are my thoughts in no particular order:- I know that Chaol is recovering from his injury and what not, and he has the right to have bad days, but he just felt kind of whiny in this book。 He was so back and forth with his emotions and it got kinda old to me。 Anyone else feel that way or is it just me? - WHY does EVERYONE and their dog have a love interest? Like I’ve said in a previous review, I love a good love story, but does every character and their dog have to have someone? I know this is a fantasy story, but good golly, it’s just a little much for me。 They all are the same too - “I loved you when I first saw you” - um, no。 Pretty sure most of these characters didn’t。 Yrene straight up did not like Chaol in the beginning。 All of the relationships in this were very predictable as well。 - This book felt like a repeat and like it copied other characters。 Borte and her relationship with her grandma and whatever just sounded like a nice version of Manon Blackbeak to me。 How their culture worked with the different clans, and the “hearth-mothers。” It really just sounded like a happy version of the witches and their clans。 Borte lost her parents (so did Manon), she is the heir and being trained by her gma (so was Manon), etc。 etc。 I just felt like the author could have been more original rather than copying and pasting a kinder version of a character already in this story。 - I kind of wish Chaol had died when death was going to take him at the end of this book。 I think I would have respected Maas more if she had killed off a main character。 The only characters she has killed off have not been present in the story for very long (Sorcha and Nehemia) and I personally didn’t feel connected much to those characters。 I also didn’t like when Yrene and Chaol became “one” and he was still injured but uses her magic as a brace or whatever。 I dunno, I just thought it was an easy way out and not a “huge” price for Yrene to pay。 I was hoping she would lose something greater, like her own ability to walk, or her healing abilities, or SOMETHING。 I dunno, maybe I’m not making any sense。。。。 I just was getting excited when I thought Maas was going to actually kill off a main character and then got disappointed when she didn’t。 🤷🏻‍♀️- I did like the new information given about the female valg, the spiders (although it felt very Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter to me when they were handling the spider situation), and about Queen Maeve and what not。 Again, why did it take us over 600 pages to get there? Not sure。 - So much narrative from the bad guys。 But I guess we have to learn how it all connects somehow。。。 🤷🏻‍♀️- Overall, I felt that this book had a lot of good ideas but they were not executed very well or at all。 。。。more

If I had just one word to describe it, it would be: boring。 The book is waaay too long (i know, it's an entire new continent to describe and populate and whatnot), and i'd rather have the (other) main characters prancing around than secondary (and newly introduced) ones。 It could all have been summed up in a novella。 If I had just one word to describe it, it would be: boring。 The book is waaay too long (i know, it's an entire new continent to describe and populate and whatnot), and i'd rather have the (other) main characters prancing around than secondary (and newly introduced) ones。 It could all have been summed up in a novella。 。。。more

SJM clearly wrote this book to appease the Chaol fans。 Am I mad about it? Absolutely not。 Could it have been shorter? Definitely。 But it was so nice to have a break from the trash fire that is the main Aelin plot, so I didn't mind reading a 600 page book about Chaol with no Aelin and co。 I've missed Chaol so much! Not just because he was absent in EMPIRE OF STORMS, but since SJM ruined his character after HEIR OF FIRE。 The character I fell in love with is finally back and thank God because he's SJM clearly wrote this book to appease the Chaol fans。 Am I mad about it? Not just because he was absent in EMPIRE OF STORMS, but since SJM ruined his character after HEIR OF FIRE。 The character I fell in love with is finally back and thank God because he's literally the only person I care about at this point。 *Spoilers Moving Forward*I was really worried this book was going to have a large focus on Chaol and Nesryn's romantic relationship because they were thrown together after Aelin appeared on the scene, but there was no development and I didn't believe it or accept it。 So I assumed this book was meant to make up for that。 I'm so happy I was wrong。 Instead we get to see a well-developed, healthy relationship for once! As soon as Yrene showed up to heal him and they started bickering, I shipped them together。 It felt like The good old days when Celaena and Chaol had a slow burn relationship and challenged each other which made them better people。 I loved how Chaol was able to see how Yrene viewed his kingdom and those who ruled。 It was a way for him to reflect on what he was a part of and it validates his decision to fight against the former king。 I thought the way they were able to find common ground was well done。 Same with the slow build of their relationship。 I was really into their first kiss until SJM had to say Chaol *claimed her mouth* and push that dominating fae BS on Chaol who isn't like that at all! But luckily the sex scene was nothing like that and was lovely and in character。 They work together really well。 I liked the scenes of Yrene healing him because it helped to build their relationship, show Yrene's power, and made Chaol face some of the trauma he had been avoiding。 Unfortunately many of the conclusions he came to such as fan girling over Aelin and acting like she wasn't 100% the reason their relationship didn't work, and carrying guilt over things he has no reason to feel guilty were BS and I don't think the real Chaol would give Aelin that much credit。 But other than that I think it worked well and I think it allowed the old Chaol to come back even more。 Nesryn was basically a plot device in the past books so it was nice to see her get more development and become an actual character。 I really liked her relationship with Sartaq because they seemed to really understand each other and had good chemistry。 I felt like their plot was a bit drawn out。 The giant spider doing the whole villain monologue to reveal a random twist about Maeve but not being fae could have been done a lot better, but apparently SJM is only capable of doing reveals that come out of nowhere through exposition dumps。 In pure SJM fashion, the ending was a hot mess。 I'm addition to the reveal/exposition dump from the giant spider, we got the same thing from the pregnant princess who apparently has been possessed the whole time。 Once again, came out of nowhere because I legitimately forgot about this chick because she was only mentioned a handful of times and once again, no foreshadowing whatsoever。 Chaol and Yrene being bonded together felt unnecessary, and I never even knew that was a possibility in this world。 But the most shocking reveal was finding out that Chaol and Yrene got married。 That happened WAY too quickly, but worse than that, we didn't get to see it! There have been two huge marriages in this series, and we were told about both of them after the fact for shock value and I feel robbed。 This book has a lot of issues, but it felt like reading the first 3 books (including the prequel) which I very much enjoyed before all the fae nonsense ruined everything。 I liked having a break from Aelin and am not looking forward to going back to her。 I can only hope that the real Chaol from this book sticks around and SJM doesn't ruin him again。 。。。more
